Wow, it’s been an expensive year, right? And it’s hard to feel jolly when you’re worried about how you’re going to afford it. I’m also a big fan of making sure that what I spend doesn’t chase me into the New Year in the form of unaffordable credit card bills, so I like to make a list, and a budget and go shopping with a plan.

Under $20
Yes! You can still find gifts they’ll love for under $20! The key is to think about your recipient, their likes, hobbies, needs and even favourite colour as a place to start. Beauty minis feel luxurious and special, festive food treats fit the bill and there are lots of fun and quirky items and activities that will have them smiling long after Christmas.

Does it get easier with $50? Maybe, but you’ll still do better focussing on the recipient rather than the price tag. In addition to those items above, think family fun – indoors and out – to get everyone playing together and making memories. Under $100
One of my favourite things to do with a $100 budget is to make a whole basket full of their favourite things. For kids, I’ll individually wrap the contents to make the fun last even longer. But, if you’re looking for a single, statement gift, there’s plenty to choose from in tech and beauty – for both men and women. Keep the kids busy with a Lego set pitched to challenge them without needing too much help or outdoor fun, sports gear or their own tech treasures.
